At the time of the competition, we were a group of 2nd year Engineering Physics students.

Contributions

Our team structure was less conventional than most. Instead of breaking up into Electrical, Mechanical, and Software specializations, we all worked both collaboratively and independently on the most pressing tasks on our agendas. This method of workflow allowed each of us to get involved in every part of the project. Knowing that everyone on our team could work on and troubleshoot any part of the project boosted trust between team members, let us all gain more skills, made solving specific problems much faster (since we could all help) and ultimately led us to be one of the most productive and fastest moving teams.

Although we all worked on every part of the project, notable individual contributions are listed below:

  • David Black: Lift and Basket, Drivetrain, Machining, Wiring, Bridge Deployment
  • Tom Ginsberg: Chassis, Software, Lift, Control/Sensors, Mounting
  • Dominic Shillingford: Software, IR Detection/Processing, Claws
  • Andrew Zhang: Bridge Deployment, Motor Drivers, Claws
